After years of perseverance and hard work, along with some engineering wonders, the goal of rail connectivity in Kashmir was finally realized on Saturday when the specially built Vande Bharat Express train arrived here to conclude its trial run.
On its first test run, the train left Katra in Jammu and arrived at the Srinagar station in the Nowgam neighborhood on the fringes of the city.
Slogans and compliments for Indian Railways were heard as the Vande Bharat Express arrived at the station at 11:30 a.m.
Railway officials and a sizable crowd had been waiting for the train since the morning, with many of them holding garlands to greet the officials as they boarded.
