Asian Arms Race Escalation

Why Asia's arms race risks spinning out of control

There are a number of factors that contribute to the risk of an arms race in Asia spinning out of control.
One major factor is the increasing military capabilities of countries in the region, particularly China and India.

Both countries have been investing heavily in modernizing their military forces, and this has led to an increase in the number and sophistication of weapons systems in the region.

Another factor is the territorial disputes in the region, particularly in the South China Sea, which have led to increased tensions between countries and an increased desire to maintain military capabilities as a deterrent.

Additionally, the US's pivot to Asia and its strengthening of military alliances in the region have led to concerns about encirclement among some countries, further fueling the arms race.
