Nakrekal Assembly constituency is reserved for Scheduled Caste and falls partly in Nalgonda and Yadadri-Bhongir districts. It covers Ramannapet mandal in Yadadri-Bhongir district and Nakrekal, Kethepally, Kattangur, Narketpally and Choutuppal mandals in Nalgonda district. It is part of Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency. Electorate Total voters of the Assembly constituency are 2,12,222, including 1,07,202 men, 1,05,019 women and 1 other gender.

Earlier, Nakrekal Assembly constituency was a stronghold of the CPI which won nine Assembly elections from the constituency.

2014 election

Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate Vemula Veeresham won 2014 election with a margin of 2,370 votes defeating Congress candidate Chirumarthi Lingaiah (then sitting MLA).
