YCLSA stands with people of Lebanon and France

The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] sends its love and support to the people of Lebanon and France during this difficult time. We condemn the killing on Thursday’sof more than 40 people in Beirut and the over 100 people killed in Paris.

We stand with the people of Paris and Beirut! We join the progressive forces in uniting and condemning the horrific assault on everyday people who have been terrorised. We will not support the reactionary elements who may cry crocodile tears now but who have never been consistent in their condemnation of all terrorism including the violence of Boko Haram, Isis, Israel and US imperialism.

This terrorist extremism of ISIS is one side of the terrorist coin, USA imperialism and its proxies like Israel is the other. As we stand with the oppressed peoples of Swaziland, Western Sahara and Palestine, we now also stand with the peoples of Lebanon and France.

The YCLSA stands firmly of the view that ISIS and US imperialism must never be allowed to use each other to justify their terrorism. It is now a time for mature and strong leadership, leadership that is able to act in the interests of humanity and avoid things spiralling into an endless violence, displacement, refugees, more wars, brutal extremism and violence that may last for decades.

As we come to terms with the tragic loss of life and suffering it is imperative that we don't allow extremism to be met with extremism, we must not allow one act of senseless violence to result or be used to justify another.

The YCLSA stands against extremism and stands with the billions of peoples of the world in condemning these horrific assaults on humanity.

Our thoughts are with our friends and young communist of France and Lebanon.
